Affect Disorder: What This Treatment Can Allow you To Do
All of us have what’s called a “window of tolerance.” This isn’t about beliefs exactly, but rather about when our normal rhythm of life rises and falls. When we rise outside of the window, so to speak, we feel intense negative emotions. (as an understatement). We might feel cstates of anger, rage, emotional dysregulation, high anxiety, and much more. By that same token, something can happen that causes the bottom to fall out, too, so that we go below the window. That can lead us to numbness, depression, “freeze,” dysphoria, and even dissociation. Going through treatment can help you to have a greater “window,” to be able to better manage the experiences and emotions that could cause you to rise or fall, so to speak.
